The Company

Paralan Corporation, founded in December 1988 by Marc D. Brooks; is privately held by Marc and Barry Shiloff. Incorporated in the State of California, we are located in an industrial park in the Kearny Mesa Area of San Diego. In late 1998, Paralan purchased a building, giving much-needed workspace to integrate a host of new products into the manufacturing cycle, to add new test and inspection equipment, and to expand engineering facilities.

Company Focus

Dedicated to expanding the horizons of the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI), Paralan produces products that expand the use of SCSI; from conversion of one type implementation to another (e.g. LVD to HVD), and extending the bus-length through the use of fiber optics.

Paralan's management team comprises over 100 man years of collective experience in sales, marketing, management and engineering. In addition to formal education the above team draws upon its years of working experience in various management positions. Most important is our will to be the best in our area of work.

Breakthroughs

Paralan was the first company in the world to have a fully functional fiber optic SCSI Bus Extender that works with any manufacturer's SCSI host adapter and SCSI peripherals.

Borrowing from technology used in our SCSI Bus Extender, Paralan produced the first single ended to differential SCSI Converter that actually extended the bus length rather than decreasing it. In early 1994, Paralan introduced the first 16 bit Ultra Wide SCSI Converter.

At the end of 1994 Paralan produced the first ASIC developed specifically for controlling all of the signals used in both narrow and wide versions of SCSI. Early in 1995 Paralan introduced the first SCSI RegeneratoR™ for extending the SCSI bus.
